Have scientists really found a gigantic crystal pyramid under the Bermuda Triangle?

A strange theory suggesting that a huge crystal pyramid lies 2,000 metres below the Bermuda Triangle has re-emerged.

In 2012, a strange conspiracy theory emerged, suggesting that a huge crystal pyramid lies 2,000 metres below the Bermuda Triangle

The theory claims that ‘scientists’ discovered the mysterious structure in 2012, using ‘technology unknown to modern science.’

Conspiracy theorists believe that the crystal pyramid is to blame for the disappearance of several planes and ships in the Bermuda Triangle area.

Reports circulating online in 2012 suggest that a scientist, called Dr Meyer Verlag, discovered the crystal pyramid, which was ‘three times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza.’

According to Before It’s News website: ‘Dr Verlag believes that further investigation into the secrets in the pyramids centre could reveal more information regarding the cases of mysterious disappearances associated with the Bermuda Triangle.’

The reports claim that Dr Verlag presented her findings at a press conference held in the Bahamas, where she revealed the exact coordinates of the pyramids.

Despite these claims, there is no evidence that Dr Verlag exists, and no record of the coordinates she is claimed to have announced.

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual, told MailOnline: ‘There is always a mystique about pyramid structures.

‘The “fact” that this is built of crystal provides it with a further coating of mystery and power, which implies it it generates magical healing and paranormal forces.

‘As with most claims we need to dig deeper and find out if such a building exists, and if it does how does it correlate with the disappearances inside the Bermuda Triangle.

‘At the moment it seems like it is an internet story that cleverly incorporates the beliefs in three major paranormal “mysteries” popularised in the 1970s, namely pyramidology, crystal power/healing and the wonderful Bermuda Triangle that covers all types of unusual events in an area that encompasses a vast area of ocean.’

Snopes, a fact-checking website also debunked the claims in an article in 2013.

It wrote: ‘Despite claims that in 2012, “American and French research teams stumbled upon an underground structure rising from the seabed” in a discovery that “rocked scientists around the world”, one searches in vain to locate the identities of (or any other information about) these putative “research teams” or evidence of articles, photos, videos, or anything else documenting their incredible discovery.

The Bermuda Triangle is a mythical section of the Atlantic Ocean roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico where dozens of ships and airplanes have disappeared

‘The only mystery here is how scientists around the world could have been “rocked” by something that they’ve never seen, and which exists only in fabricated paranormal pseudo-documentaries.’

THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE

The Bermuda Triangle is a mythical section of the Atlantic Ocean roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico where dozens of ships and airplanes have disappeared.

Unexplained circumstances surround some of these accidents.

But although a range of strange theories have been proposed regarding the Bermuda Triangle, none of them prove that mysterious disappearances occur more frequently there than in other well-traveled sections of the ocean.

Many people navigate the area every day without incident.
